Cisco ASA 5550 4GE SSM Module

Hi,

We bought a brand new ASA 5550 with a 4GE SSM Module.

The problem is that whenever i connect to the SSM Module, it is physically up, but it cannot detect the PC that is connected to it.

The isolation I've done is to try the same configuration done to the SSM port with those of the BUILT-IN ports of the ASA, and it is working fine.

My question is that, is there any difference with the kind of configuration that i am suppose to set my SSM module with those of the built-in ports of the ASA. The configs are working fine with the built-in ports but doesnt work on the SSM module.

Hi,

Have the same problem with an ASA5520 using 8.3 software.

If you revert back to IOS image asa821-k8.bin it works fine.

In terms of special configuration you only need the "media-type sfp" if you are running on an SFP connected interface. It defaults to the copper RJ45 port.
