For CiscoWorks LMS 3.0 this is Sybase?
but what version and do you have to buy this product to be able to view it or can you also open with something else?
this is because i want to really understand how the backup system of ciscoworks lms 3.0 works
so all the help is welcome.

LMS has always used an embedded Sybase database called SQL Anywhere. The current version is ASA 9, but we are moving to 10 in the LMS 3.1 release. The cost of the database is included in the price of LMS. There is nothing additional to buy.
We do not support direct access to the LMS databases. We offer some command line tools to access the data, however.

Thank you.
is there a list of these command tools? or can you find them in the manuals?

It depends on the data you'd like to access, but all of them are documented. Some of the more heavily used tools are cwcli, dcrcli, and cmexport which allow access to RME, DCR, and Campus Manager data respectively.
