how do you sucessfully change 4 port etherchannel

How do you reconfig an etherchannel from trunk mode on to desirable? have 2 6509's with an active etherchannel config'd using sup720 ports 5/1,5/2 and 6/1, 6/2. slot six is redundant card on both mls'.

Hi,

You can simply change the mode under the port-channel interface:

interface Port-channel x

switchport mode dynamic desirable

this is an active channel, if i config one side won't it drop before i can config the other side?

Hi,

Technically speaking, there should be no problem, since as a DTP rule a trunk can be established if one side is desirable and the other side is either Trunk, Desirable or Auto, accordingly i don't believe that there is going to be any service disruption.
