using vista with 5.0 vpn client getting a reason 422: lost contact, any ideas to resolve

Which version of the 5.0 client?

Does the client connect and authenticate or does it lose contact before authentication?

If it does authenticate is it getting assigned an IP address? Does it run for a while and then lose contact or is the failure immediate?

it is version 5.0.00.0340

the client will (appears)to connect and authenticate. not sure if a IP address is assigned. How do I check?

I believe that it never really connects.

The easy way to check for IP address assignment is to do (at a command prompt on the PC) ipconfig to see what address is assigned before connecting, then connect, then do another ipconfig and see if another address is indicated.
