SSLVPN - can't establish pptp connection within SSLVPN tunnel

I have a remote client with a stable SSLVPN full tunnel connection through a 2821 IOS 12.4(15)T4.

When I then try and make a standard Windows VPN connection from the remote to a server on the internal network, the PPTP/GRE packets that are sent from the VPN server back to the remote client via the tunnel don't arrive. Wireshark tells me that they are being sent back to the internal interface of the router with the correct destination ip, but they don't make it back to the remote, so the remote keeps sending unanswered PPP LCP configuration requests until it times out. Does anyone have a clue?
