spectralink and vocera coexisting

Is there a happy medium to where Spectralink and Vocera will coexist together? We currently have over 200 lightweight APs, about 100 Spectralink phones, and 120 Vocera badges all running on 2 6500s, 4 WiSM running 4.2.61.0, and WCS running 4.2.62.0.

What issues are you running into? We have a site running both Spectralink and Vocera with similar numbers to your site. What type of security are you running?

Currently, we are running into broadcast issues with the badges. I know that the multicast and DTIM settings are different with Vocera and Spectralink. Both the Vocera and Spectralink tech reps said that both systems coexisting together wouldn't work. We are currently using WEP on both systems, but have Vocera on a seperate WLAN of their own. Spectralink is on the main WLAN.

We resolved our Vocera broadcasting problem by turning off IGMP snooping at the Vocera vlan interface. We have separate vlans for Vocera and Spectralink - both using wpa-psk. The 11Mbps data rate is set to mandatory with all others set to supported. Beacon period is 100ms and beacon rate is 1.

We have IGMP snooping off and are using WEP. Our data rates are the same as well as the beacon settings. Are you using multicast-multicast or the multicast-unicast option?

multicast-multicast - 226.1.2.3

We tried converting over to multicast-multicast, but that killed the spectralink all together. We then went to multicast-unicast and spectralink would work, but we lost the broadcast feature on Vocera.

Ouch! When you initially set up Spectralink on the controllers did you add the following statement -

config advanced edca-parameters svp-voice

Check out page 12 of the attached configuration guide from Spectralink for QoS configurations.

We have SVP enabled on the controllers. We contacted our Cisco rep and no one seems to know too much about multicast on wireless.

What are your DTIM settings? We have our floors split up between Spectralink and Vocera users. I know Vocera uses DTIM of 1 and Spectralink 2. Did you manage to get both Vocera and Spectralink working together?

Are you running both Spectralink and Vocera on the same WLAN?
