Hi Napoleon,
The minimum releases which support WIC-1ENET on 1700 series routers are 12.1(3)XT, 12.1(5)YB, 12.2(2)XJ, 12.2(4)T1. It is only supported in slot 0. However, starting with 12.2(2)XJ, 12.2(2)XK, and 12.2(8)T there are no restriction on slot number. Since, you are running 12.1(3) w/ IP feature set, you would need to upgrade the IOS. Unfortunately, you have only 16MB DRAM and 4MB Flash memory. Atleast 32MB DRAM and 8MB flash would be required to upgrade to a release which would support WIC-1ENET on your Cisco 1750.

Wow! Thanks for that quick reply. Do I need to buy the upgrade? I have no access to the support site because I just bought this router and wic from ebay. Any suggestion?

Napoleon,
Cisco 1750 routers have 1 slot each for DRAM and Flash. The default is 16MB DRAM (which is fixed) and 4MB flash. The maximum supported DRAM is 48MB (ie,16MB fixed + 32MB) and Flash is 16MB.
Below are the memory part numbers:
DRAM:
16-MB SDRAM DIMM -> MEM1700-16D=
32-MB SDRAM DIMM -> MEM1700-32D=
Flash:
16-MB mini-flash module -> MEM1700-16MFC=

Thanks again for the quick reply. I'm planning to buy 32MB SDRAM and 16MB Flash from Ebay. What about the IOS upgrade can I just ask for a free upgrade from cisco.com? If you will ask why I am doing this is because I'm doing self-study on cisco router configuration and maintenance. Thank you.

If your CCO account has the privilege to download an IOS, you can simply login and download the image from the IOS upgrade planner. Else, contact Cisco pre-sales/customer care to find out what options you have.

They don't support Cisco products bought from Ebay. Could you help me download the latest IOS so I could use my WIC-1ENET. I also bought FXS card which I am planning to insert on slot 2. Now before buying the memory upgrade I want to make sure I could secure the IOSS upgrade first. Many thanks.

Thank you.
