This might help answer your question:

Q. How many clients can associate to the AP?

A. The AP has the physical capacity to handle 2048 MAC addresses. However, because the AP is a shared medium and acts as a wireless hub, the performance of each user decreases as the number of users increases on an individual AP. Ideally, not more than 24 clients should associate with the AP because the throughput of the AP is reduced with each client that associates to the AP.

Finally. You think that I need 13 APs for 300 clients? To cover the conference room, one AP is enough. Also I'll use a WLC for 8 APs. What do you prefer to me?

Thanks.

You will want to deploy multiple "zones" of 1-6-11 and use the layout of the room and seating to your advantage when mapping out the signals. People, aka "sacks of water", have an affect on the signal, as well as the metal in the chair that they are sitting on. If the AP is at the edge of the row, the person sitting 30 chairs away may not see much of a signal.

If the room is a rectangle, you can place APs along the sides for example:

1======6

11=====1

6======11

Using directional antennae would help too.
