Hi,
Im curious if anyone knows my Cisco 2950's are listening on tcp ports 25 (smtp), 110 (pop3) and 143 (IMAP)!
I cant see anything in the configuration that should be allowing this... And i dont understand why its there. If possible id like to disable the ports.
Anyone have any ideas?
Thanks
Andy

Hi.
I tried to verify this with a port scanner.
The only ports my 2950s are listening is TCP23/Telnet.

I should have pointed out that its the ip address of the vlan interface that is listening on these ports.
Thanks

Thanks Frank,
After reading your post i tried the test from a different source PC... I then realised what the problem was and to be honest im a bit embarrassed!
Id installed some PGP software on my PC but didn't realise that it proxies any outbound connections on mail related ports..!
Giving the impression that the remote device was listening on these port.
Doh!

Five points on your answer with this issue. It was not making sense how he was seeing open mail ports coming from his switch.
