Hello guys,
I would like to know if there is a function for us to disable errdisable state detection in IOS.
Normally any interfaces will go to errdisable state because of many possible causes such as duplex mismatch.
I am hoping to avoid the interface to go to errdisable state even if there is duplex mistmatch etc which for sure will bring the interface down.
Thanks a lot

Hi SiraJ,
You can simply do this via the "no errdisable detect cause x" command, but this is highly not recommended as it is a safety feature.

Hi
the below was taken from a 4500, duplex mistmach does not cause error disable. it will simply show up in log and cause CRC errors heavily.

Hi Sam,
Duplex mismatch doesn't have a specific errdisable detection mode, but please take care of the following, i quote from this document "Errdisable Port State Recovery on the Cisco IOS Platforms":
"Link flap means that the interface continually goes up and down. The interface is put into the errdisabled state if it flaps more than five times in 10 seconds. The common cause of link flap is a Layer 1 issue such as a bad cable, duplex mismatch, or bad Gigabit Interface Converter (GBIC) card."
