hi every body

i have few questions about trunking between

two switches.

Should the ports being used on both switches be in same vlan for trunking for example: sw1 has follings config

f0/1-f0-0/5 in vlan1

f0/6- f0/10 in vlan2

sw2 has following config:

f0/1-f0/5 in vlan1

f0/6-f0/10 in vlan2

Can i use port f0/4 from vlan1 on sw1 as a trunk to port f0/6 from vlan2 on sw2 ?

or is it necassary ports being used for trunking be in same vlan on both switches?

thanks alot have a nice day!

They shud be having similar configs of vlan, speed & duplex.

When you configure a port as a trunk it is not allocated to any one specific vlan so it doesn't matter what vlans the ports are in as access ports.
