i was told that a 2006 controller can
authenticate WITHOUT using a radius server, or the like.
True/False?

If you are a Microsoft shop, you can alway use IAS. Just bring it up on a seperate server or vmware.

The 4.2 code has the ability to do local eap. You will just have to try that out for yourself. Never tired it, since we always deploy with external radius server.

yeah, i'd REALLY would like a radius server but we don't have the expertise in house to run one, though.
By the way, for a small network, which radius platform would you recommend?
