CCNA renew again

Unanswered Question
Apr 22nd, 2008

I took my CCNA exam on the 27th August 2002 & passed, I then renewed it on the 11th August 2005 by taking (642-811) BCMSN. It is now time for me to renew it again.

My question is can I take the 642-812 BCMSN exam to renew my CCNA as I have already taken the 642-811 once already to renew CCNA

I have this problem too.

Hey Mark,

I don't think it matters how many times you take a given exam for recert purposes. Here's the exact quote:

"CCNA Recertificaton

CCNA certifications are valid for three years. To recertify, either pass the current CCNA exam, or pass the ICND2 exam, or pass any 642 professional level or Cisco Specialist exam (excluding Sales Specialist exams), or pass a current CCIE written exam."

I don't see any restriction that says "any 642 exam which you have never taken previously for recertification purposes." That would be way too messy and, frankly, just not make a lot of sense.

Regards,

Scott

Thanks for all the reply's. What do you think would be the easiest to renew my ccna as last time the easiest was to take the switch exam.

Why not take another step towards your CCNP and renew your NA at the same time?

That should recertify you again for your CCNA. If you aren't planning on going for a CCxP level certification, you can also take either the CCNA composite test (640-802) or the ICND2 test (640-816) if it would be less work for you. Both of those will recertify you as well.

If you want a full list of tests, log into the Certification Tracker site, click on the Certification Progress link on the left hand side, and select the CCNA certification. It will list all of the test that will recertify your CCNA.
