Gigabit IP Phone

Unanswered Question

Is there any significant advantage of Gig IP Phone in terms of Voice Quality? Technically, it can only make a phone registration process faster when its downloading the config from the TFTP server or if the phone is being rebooted then it will come online faster or accessing services such as stock quote etc.

When it comes to making a phone call or having a 2-way conversation I don't think it matters whether the link is 10, 100 or 1000.

I have this problem too.

NO. The gig phones are meant to provide Gig to the desktop PC connected behind it, use one cable, use one switchport.

People using medical imaging, CAD, graphic artists, video processors, etc that take a LOT of bandwidth usually have gig to their desktop and would benefit from the phone.

Also those purchasing today for the 1, 2, 5 year plan might consider gig phones.

You can have good voice quality on a 128Kb link when QoS is properly configured.
