Is there a way to switch the type of phone that registers when using Simclient. Currently a 7960 phone registers and uses 4 unit licenses, we only have 500 units and we are unable load testing as much as we would hope.

Yes. You can configure the phone type as 7902 in CUCM and change the phone type from "7" to "3008" in SimClient+.
7902s use just one DLU.
