BARS backup not completing

I have found that our BARS backup failed but I cannot find anything that tells me why so I am hoping that somebody around here may be able to point me in the right direction. We are running BARS 4.0.12 on our CCM (publisher). The backups were fine until the last one and I don't remember anychanges being made other than normal daily stuff like modifying resources on our CRS server. Here is the error from the BARS status page;

[02:19:25 AM] Backup is 74% complete.

[02:23:42 AM] Error: progress failure for component: com.cisco.database.bar.dsn.EDBSDsnArchieve; nested exception is: com.cisco.wfapi.WFKeepAliveException: unable to determine progress for remote component: com.cisco.database.bar.dsn.EDBSDsnArchieve in IPCC1; nested exception is: java.rmi.ConnectException: Connection refused to host: 10.106.19.12; nested exception is: java.net.ConnectException: Connection refused: connect

[02:23:47 AM] Session closed successfully

[02:23:47 AM] Could not backup Cisco Customer Response Solutions successfully on 10.106.19.13.

I have looked around on the CCO site and cannot find anything involving this error regarding BARS backups, if anybody has ever seen this error or can point me in the direction of where I need to look I would appreciate it. Thanks.

Cisco IP Telephony Backup and Restore System (BARS) Administration Guide, Version 4.0(12)

http://www.cisco.com/en/US/docs/voice_ip_comm/cucm/bars/4_0_12/ag-4012.html

i don't know of a best practices doc we have on this but i would suggest the following:

configure the backup always to a network drive

configure the scheduler to run once a week during non-business hours

have at least 2 backup files always in the remote drive (configure bars to automatically delete older files)

check every once in a while the backup log to verify it completed successfully

about the restore there is really no best practice, just the guide on how to restore.

always make sure to restore on exactly the same version is the most important thing

do not change hostnames

vefify the server supports the CUCM version if not the same server

Has BARS sucessfully backed up CRS before?

Cheers,

Tim

Yes it has successfully backed up before and after I bounced all of the servers in our cluster because of some windows updates that Cisco released and now the backups are working again. I think that something may have been locked up during the backup that failed and after a reboot of the servers the lock was cleared up and now the BARS backups are running just fine. Thank you.
