Can someone tell me if an ASA will support EIGRP or any other routing protocols as a full router. Or is the ASA a stub router. Can you get me some documentation

From 8.0 on ASA it supports EIGRP. I've set up and live in my network. it works fine so far.

Thanks for your information, but can you tell me if EIGRP or OSPF is supported to run across the VPN tunnel and passw routing updates. I currently have two ASA and we are running an IPSEc tunnel as our backup connection in case our metro e connection goes down.

IPsec VPN tunnel doesn't support multicast. So EIGRP appears not fit. OSPF has one mode p2p no-broadcast can work via VPN on ASA. see doc.

Could you post a brief summary of your ASA EIGRP configuration? It would be helpful to see the config of your interfaces (ASA side and switch/router side), and EIGRP statements. There are not many ASA-related examples to be found as this is a new capability on the ASA. Thanks!

Sorry, Another way is through GRE tunnel, but you need router instead of FW. The doc I gave was for GRE. Following one is for ASA OSPF configuration.
