on Cisco view the port showing green but no user report on the port. is this because the device attached to the port is unknown by Ciscoworks? the second one the UT report the device attach to the port but ciscoview

show as Dormant on the port. what's really mean? thank you in advance for your help.

User Tracking just shows end hosts (e.g. PCs) and IP phones. Campus Manager Topology is designed to track routers, switches, and APs.

User Tracking ignores MAC addresses on trunk ports and ports which make up links on the topology map. It could be that this particular port falls into one of those two categories. Additionally, if this is a layer 3 device, and the port in question is in layer 3 mode, then UT will ignore that port.

UT retains data it found in previous acquisitions. So the port could have been active at one point, and now it is dormant.

thanks a lot. simple related question. user tracking is not tracking switch, router or Access point? is that right?
