intervlan multicast

hi.

i'm having trouble setting up intervlan multicasting on a catalyst 4510R.

multicast within the same vlan works fine but after putting the source in a separate vlan i cannot get it to work.

ip multicast-routing is enabled

and ip pim sparse-mode is set on the vlans in question

i have tried dense-mode, adding an RP address. pretty much everything

i'm sure i've missed something simple as it doesn't seem that difficult a thing to set up!

could someone help me with the config?

thanks.

Mike,

A very common problem is that the source transmits using a TTL of 1, which will work if the source and the receiver are on a common subnet but won't if they are separated by one or more router.

good call on that one!! spot on

ttl was indeed set to 1.

ended up using ip pim sparse-mode and setting the RP-Address manually

thanks
