We have created Layer 3 etherchannels using pagp in desirable mode. I notice that there are hellos sent every 30 seconds which I assume are to check the status. Is there any way of changing this value? Also in the event of a link failing how long does the other end wait before taking any action. Is it just down to missing the first hello or is there anything else that is involved?

Hi David,
My current understanding is that PAgP hellos are sent at 1 second intervals during negotiation. The interval is increased to 30sec after negotiation has completed.
The 'hello' messages contain information about the capabilities of the switches. In addition, the 'hello' messages contain fields that allow the neighboring switches to recognize one another.
AFAIK you cannot modify Pagp hello timer.

Hi,
I think we can not modify the hello timer for PAgP.
