Unified SRST which is embedded

within Cisco IOS Software to help provide high-availability IP telephony. This feature is usefull to provide backup to IP Phone during faliour of call manager.

I would like to know how long SRST can provide backup to IP phone?

Here we have cisco 3845 router with SRST bundle.

Awaiting for your response

Hi Manoj,

There is no "maximum" time that SRST can remain in effect. You hope that it isn't too long to CCM fixed, but SRST could work indefinitly. Here is a little clip from an excellent SRST Overview;

"Cisco Unified SRST overcomes this problem and ensures that the Cisco IP phones offer continuous (although minimal) service by providing call-handling support for Cisco IP phones directly from the Cisco Unified SRST router."

Hope this helps!

I asked you these details becouse someone told me that it will provide backup only 8 hrs..

Thanks for your help

Hi Manoj,

You are most welcome my friend :) Luckily there is no "8 hour" type restriction. Have a look at this recent thread that does show why this (SRST) must continue to operate.

I feel for Kenneth and the people involved.
