Hi,

I have a unity failover setup running. there are two unity server and one exchange server out of the box. Is there any way to have a failvover for exchange server also. I am searching for documents to implement a solution of exchange redundancy in unity failover.

For exchange redundancy you need to setup a WinSrvr Cluster using Win 2K Advanced server, 2003 or 2007 server. (or datacenter); then you setup exchange clustering.

Exchange 2007 has the best clustering capabilities with the easiest administration.

This is basically setting up two Win servers in a cluster and then setting up exchange clustering.

Please see the following links for more info on clustering exchange:

Hi,

You may have multiple exchange server, at the time of integration with Unity, you need to select the server who has got lowest load since Unity integartion will inclease the CPU & memory utilization.

All the best.

Be aware that Exchange clustering in 2k7 is not supported by TAC or Cisco as of right now.

Here is the doc and excerpt.

http://www.cisco.com/en/US/docs/voice_ip_comm/unity/5x/requirements/50cusysreq.html

Exchange 2007 clustering will be tested shortly after Cisco Unity 5.0(1) is

released. When it has been qualified, this document will be updated to

indicate that Exchange 2007 clustering is supported and to list requirements

specific to Exchange 2007, if any.

So far testing is not completed and we aren't supporting it until it is. We have already encountered problems with MAPI communications with Ex2k7 and Unity when Ex2k7 failover occurs in a cluster so it is not recommended to impliment such a design at this time.

Hey Tray :-)

We (Tray and I) are working on this exact issue. He is in the knowledge.

I will keep the forum up to date on this issue too, doing extensive testing right now. Of couse what is TAC supported is what I reccomend also.
