Hi
i have a simple cisco 3 layer nework with an 1800 ruter as gateway. i have configuerd the gateway to send snmp traps to a certain ip address which is eventually a pc in the lan network.my query is what i need to do to be able to collect those traps from snmp agent to this particular pc.

All you need is a trap receiver application, and to have udp/162 unfiltered from agent to PC. There are plenty of trap receivers available including many free/open source tools. I personally use Net-SNMP's snmptrapd on FreeBSD and HPOV Network Node Manager on Solaris. Other people might be able to recommend other trap receivers.

Net-SNMP is free (http://net-snmp.sourceforge.net). Other people may have other opinions on what free trap receivers work well for them.
