What is the convergence time for RSTP and how does it converge.Let me know how to configure PVST in the segmented LAN switching environment

I strongly recommend you read up the below links.

convergence for RSTP is in the order of seconds. (I had 16 switches in a ring, and converged in less then 3s).

if you are forecasting to have many VLANs, then go for MSTP which will enable RSTP. but i you will only have fewer, then you may choose to configure R-PVST.
