IPC 2.0 QOS question

Unanswered Question
May 12th, 2008

Hi all,

I am installing IPC per this doc:

My question is if a user is using IPC via wireless connection will this help with voice quality or is their something else I need to configure for the wireless NIC. It does help with the LAN

In my Dell wireless NIC there is no QOS settings.

I have this problem too.

Wireless inherently has it's quality limitations. (ie: can't go through lead walls, etc.... :) )

But for the most part, in a normally suited environment, it should have no impact on your voice quality that you'll be able to detect or not adjust.

You will not get QoS by only installing IPC. Since your NIC doesn't support 'dot1p', you'll have to do QoS at the switch and throughout your network. (ie: to the gateways or other voip endpoints)

IPC 2.0 will mark your signalling as CS3 (24) and voice as EF (46).
