Unity design

Hopefully a simple question

I`m trying to get a better understanding on what is changed in Exchange based Unity and in Notes

In an MS exchange based Unity, I understand that AD is installed as part of the initial installation process when everything is installed on a single Cisco server then it creates the user rights to manage the Exchange mailbox, the necessary Schema change in AD is carried out . If the Exchange and AD is external and provided by the customer then the AD schema has to be changed so the Unity administrator has the same rights to manage the mail box`s - Is this correct ?

Lotus Notes

This is slightly different, if the customer has Notes and LDAP for permission's then the changes are in the Notes name file and the permission of the Unity account ?

thanks

Yes you are in the correct lines in MS Exchange.

In Unified MS Exchange solution where the partner exchange server is "Customer Provided" exchange exchange 2003. You have to run the permissions wizard which will basically create **necessary objects** for mailbox management.

But when the partner server is exchange 2007, Unity permissions wizard cannot create necessary objects, instead your exchange admin have to manually run a script which creates necessary objects.

HTH.

Thanks for the reply- Do you have any info on what the changes are in AD, LDAP ? any info on Notes?.

you can look for further info in the unity design guides, they contain info on what you want. not sure the version but if you look in CCO unity design they will show up, just look for the one for your version
