Caller ID Name

Unanswered Question
May 13th, 2008

Until recently I was running Call Manager 6 with an MGCP gateway. I converted the MGCP gateway to H323 but now I am no longer getting Caller ID name from the PSTN (PRI). I am only getting the numbers. Does anyone know how to configure an H323 gateway to support CID Names?

I have this problem too.

Thanks anyway but I just found it!

At the voice service level:

voice service voip

h225 display-ie ccm-compatible

At the voice class level:

voice class h323 1

h225 display-ie ccm-compatible [system]

To enable the H.323 Display feature with buffering for ISDN trunks that use the Facility message to deliver Name Display information, additionally configure the following:

interface Serial0/3/0:23

no ip address

encapsulation hdlc

isdn switch-type primary-ni

isdn incoming-voice voice

isdn map address *. plan isdn type unknown

isdn supp-service name calling

isdn bind-l3 ccm-manager

no cdp enable

What yIn the h323 protocol the call manager can't understand the calling name

in the Facility IE. The PSTN/PBX has to send us the calling name in the

Display IE. These are the two fields which comes in an isdn q931 setup

message. The CM can understand the calling name in Facility IE if we are

running MGCP protocol.

In order to get the caller name displayed on the IP Phone we need to get

the caller name in the display ie field of the Isdn q931 call setup

message. This can only be configured on the Telco/Wind stream. switch. You will have

to ask your telephone company/service provider to enable sending of

display ie in the call setup message."

config the information below::

Interface Serial3/0:23

isdn supp-service name calling

isdn outgoing ie facility

no isdn outgoing display-ie
