Using PPPoFR as backup

I'm currently using the standard setup for a PPPoFR link:

interface Serial0/0

no ip address

encapsulation frame-relay IETF

no fair-queue

frame-relay traffic-shaping

frame-relay interface-dlci 50 ppp Virtual-Template1

class 1638

!

interface Virtual-Template1

bandwidth 6000

ip unnumbered Loopback0

ppp chap hostname xxx

ppp chap password yyy

This is currently working fine as the primary link, but I'd need to use this link as a backup using DDR.

Is there any way to use a Dialer interface rather than the Virtual-Template I'm currently using?

Hi,

you can use the 'backup interface' command without a DDR, if the encapsulation of your interfaces comes down during the fault. Anyway, a track solution (rtr or IP SLA) or something like 'auto-tunneling' with gre and static routes could do the trick.

Let me know
