Just to confirm:
On the router, which type of port (serial, etc) I should be using to connect my router to a 10Mbps MPLs network?

Judging by the speed you got, likely an ethernet port. Ask the SP and clarify any doubt with them.

Typically have you seen this as a FastEthernet (copper port) or this could be a fiber port in the router?

As I said most likely is copper. SP must specify.
