Hi all, I have run a ping for the last few days over my wan links, it seems like every 1 or 2 hours it drops just one ping, is this acceptable?

That would depend on Bandwidth of the link and Traffic on the link.

is this normal on alot of wan links though ?

I have seen links without any packet loss for days.

Its not normal but it would not much be a problem for the network. Droping a ping means there is some samll problem out there.

Please anyone can correct me if i am wrong.

Look at your WAN interface. If its serial0/0 for example, do a show interface s0/0 . Look for input errors, output errors, dropped packets, and bandwitch utilization. What's more important than 1 lost packet lost every 2 hours is the response times.

Ping www.yahoo.com for a minute. My response times right now are 12ms for a comparison.

I don't really thinks its a big deal.
