Hi,
I was just wondering whether we can simulate HSRP failover by using one 2600 router and one 3560 switch where i have 2 FE interfaces at 2600?
I have connected the 2 FE interfaces from 2600 to 3560 switches with 2 routed ports configured respectively and hook up a laptop to 3560 port and did a continuous ping to 2600. However, I did not see the failover when i manually shutdown one interface at the 2600 FE.
Anyways that i can simulate it?
Thanks!!

In order to have HSRP running, both HSRP devices must be on the same LAN.
Can you provide configs along with the show stand output from both devices?

Thanks!! I will provide the config later on. Meantime, I have tried to configure the 2 FE interface in 2600 with same LAN IP range but failed to do so. ie. FE0/0 IP 192.168.100.2/24, FE0/1 IP 192.168.100.3/24. Hence, I changed the FE0/1 IP to 192.168.110.2/24. The routed ports are configured as follows:
FA0/1: 192.168.100.100 connected to FE0/0
FA0/2: 192.168.110.100 connected to FE0/1
My laptop IP is 10.110.220.150 in VLAN10 on 3560.
My ping is to 192.168.100.1(standby IP) to 2600.
So I think my configurations won't work now since the interfaces are on different segment. Anyway to configure 2600 FE0/0-1 with same segment?
Thanks!!

try configuring one of the ports on your router and a vlan interface on a switch as an hsrp pair.

HSRP configuration requires you to share this task within (2) physical devices.
You can configure HSRP between the 2600 Router and the 3560 switch.
You already have a Vlan10 on the 3560. I recommend changing the IP on one of the interfaces in the 2600 router to be on that Vlan. Configure the switchport for access-vlan 10, then configure HSRP between Vlan10 Layer3 interface in the switch and the fastethernet in the router connected to that Vlan.

You mean I should configure as follows:
FE0/0 IP 192.168.100.2/24
FE0/1 IP 10.110.220.2/24
Int Fa0/1
Description Connect to FE0/0
no switchport
ip addr 192.168.100.100/24
Int Fa0/2
Description Connect to FE0/1
switchport access vlan 10
switchport mode access
Int Vlan10
ip addr 10.110.220.254/24
Standby 1 IP 10.110.220.1
Standby 1 preempt
My laptop IP is 10.110.220.150 in VLAN10 connected to 3560.
I ping to 192.168.100.1(standby IP) to 2600.
Is it correct?

Yes, that should do it.
Once you are done with that configuration, please post the show stand for verification.
