Hello,

We have a E1 line toward our ISP and this line is very unstable. Below is the syslog we get on our router:

%CONTROLLER-5-UPDOWN: Controller E1 0/2, changed state to down (AIS detected)

And below is the config on our E1 controller:

controller E1 0/2

framing NO-CRC4

channel-group 0 timeslots 1-24 speed 64

!

Please give us advices to solve the problem....

regards

Thanh

Thanh,

Check the framing and CRC set fron the ISP. If that is ON change turn on the framing and CRC on your side also. If that value mismatch you can notice that controller is going up and down.

Thanks and regards

Hi Eldo, thanks for quick respons..

Bellow is the network diagram of our network so that you can understand our problem better:

RouterA:E1 <--->ISP network with E1-T1 converter<--->RouterB:T1

RouterA#sho run

controller E1 0/2

framing NO-CRC4

channel-group 0 timeslots 1-24 speed 64

!

RouterB# show run

controller T1 0/0

framing esf

linecode b8zs

channel-group 0 timeslots 1-24 speed 64

Can you verify that these config. is correct.?

Best regards

Thanh

Hi, AIS either means the circuit is interrupted and out of service, or the device on the other end is turned off or shutdown. All these things you have to work with the SP.

Hope this helps, please rate post if it does!

Hi, The ISP said that this error shoul be the time syncronization and they said that they do not provide clocking to both sides. I have tried to set master clock on E1 controller side, but no luck.

RouterA#

controller E1 0/2

framing NO-CRC4

channel-group 0 timeslots 1-24 speed 64

clock source internal

RouterB#

controller T1 0/0

framing esf

linecode b8zs

channel-group 0 timeslots 1-24 speed 64

!

Thanh

add the below commands and try

controller E1 0/2

linecode hdb3

clock source line and also internal.

Let us know if it helps

Hello Pravinxyz,

Please let me know why this will help us. We have try to "clock source internal", nut no help. Why "linecode hdb3" ? . I am affraid to do this , because it will affect the operation. The problem is the line is flapping 1 time in about 2 days..

Regards

Thanh

The linecode hdb3 is a dafult line code for E1.

You can check it out in show controllers command and you will find it.

Some time we miss use default and which does create some problems and issue in the configuration and depends on how ios behaves.

It was just to confurm that all the conigs are done on the interface. As above it was also siad that this could be a line problem with the isp which i totaly agree.

As you said the flapping is 1 time in about 2 days would not be a big deal for me if the downtime is in seconds and is not casueing any problems to the production network.

In case if this is causing an outage to the network then you need to get it reolved.

I would also suggest to get the line tested from both the direction with the telco. A stress test.

Hi Pra,

-The line code hdb3 is showed in show controllers command.

-The down time is usually quite long, about 1-2 hour. Our ISP usually says that the problems is not in their network.

One flaps time in two day is not bad. Are the serial if's up running ? Are these clean of errors ?
