QSIG MWI - Nortel to CUCM

Unanswered Question
May 21st, 2008

I have setup qsig between CUCM 6.1 and Nortel CS1000 software rev 4.5.

Everything including caller-id, vm, transferring etc is working great, but I am struggling with MWI.

The voicemail system is Nortel CallPilot.

I am not personally configuring the Nortel side, nor do I have access.

Currently, when a call is made to a Cisco phone, and goes to voicemail, Nortel CallPilot actually rings the phone rather than turning on the light.

TAC is telling me that the facility message coming in the call from Nortel CallPilot to the phone does not have anything regarding MWI in it, and looks like a regular call.

Any advice?

Thanks greatly.

I have this problem too.

Right, Nortel needs to send out a facility message any about what it's for other than a call to extension xxxx.

Typically, the "header" of the call will have information like "call forward no answer" "busy" etc.

In your case, NOrtel is probably sending something, but Cisco does not understand it.

IP Phone Messaging turned on in CallManager? This needs to be turned on for third party voicemail systems to work with CUCM

This was just resolved.

On the Nortel side, RCAP was configured with MWI. A change from MWI to QMWI resolved the problem.
