I have a user in the legal department who needs to save a copy of a voice message he received. We do not have Unified Messaging. Is there a way to save copies of messages as a .wav file without Unified Messaging?

You should be able to open a browser window, enter http://unityservername/exchange/mailboxusername and access the voicemail box this way. It will open Outlook Web Access where you can view the messages and also save the .wav file.

You have a few options:

1. If you are licensed for the Cisco Unity Inbox which can be accessed via the Cisco Personal Communications Assistant (CPCA) web page, then assign the subscriber to a Class of Service (COS) on Unity that has access to this feature, then they can logon to CPCA, access Cisco Unity Inbox and save the message as a wav file on their desktop.

2. If you have Cisco Unity 5.0(1) or later, you can install the Exchange 2000 Voice Connector (IVC), create a Trusted Internet location on Cisco Unity and a Trusted Internet Subscriber which you assign an smtp address to which could be the users corporate email address or a hotmail account etc. When the subscriber wants a copy of the message, they can forward the message to the Trusted Internet subscriber which will send the message to their corporate or hotmail account etc.

3. You could set up Outlook to have an IMAP connection to the Cisco Unity Exchange mailbox. There may be licensing concerns here, not sure if you need a license or not to do this legally.
