Answered Question
May 22nd, 2008

I have sent up email notifications in DFM without issues but for some reason we are getting emails ever 12 minutes or so for the same devices. Here is the error. We don't see any issues not flapping nothing in the logs. How do we condition the alerts to send out a certain amount of times?

EVENT ID = 0000174

ALERT ID = 00000SN

TIME = Thu 22-May-2008 10:41:22 EDT

STATUS = ERROR

SEVERITY = Critical

MANAGED OBJECT = fc01aswa01.corp.citistreet.org

MANAGED OBJECT TYPE = Switches and Hubs

EVENT DESCRIPTION = OperationallyDown::Component=PORT-fc01aswa01.corp.citistreet.org/1.49 [Gi0/1];ComponentClass=Port;ComponentEventCode=1076;Type=ETHERNETCSMACD;IsFlapping=false;AdminStatus=NOTPRESENT;MaxSpeed=1000000000;OperStatus=NOTPRESENT;InterfaceCode=CODEUNKNOWN;

We've seen this before on certain devices, but typically not with ethernet interfaces. The ifAdminStatus and ifOperStatus actually bounce between up and notPresent. This is always a device issue. If this port is a GBIC or SFP port, you might have a bad module.
