Measuring latency, packet loss, jitter

Answered Question
May 29th, 2008

What is the best tool / application freeware to measure latency, packet loss, jitter between 2 6500's over a 10 gig single mode fiber wan link, basically just need a good 24 hour report on network performance for that link to prepare for SRDF deployment, thanks to all in advance.

I have this problem too.

I prefer to use IOS tools when possible and you can here. Take a look at IP Service Level Agreement (IPSLA). Here's a link for more info.

http://www.cisco.com/en/US/docs/ios/ipsla/configuration/guide/12_4t/sla_12_4t_book.html

Hope that helps.

Thanks for your response but unfortunately the 12.2.18SXD5 version I have on my 6500's does not include IP SLA.

Another tool I use everyday is PingPlotterPro (pingplotterpro.com). It's not free but a very useful tool.
