Monitoring Internet Connection

I am using an ASA5505 to connect to the Internet.

I am seeing some behavior in our applications that make me think that we are losing our Internet connection for short periods (a few seconds or less).

Is there a way in the ASA 5505 to look for and log such events? Or do I need to try to use some pinging software a workstation?

Thanks

Unless the interface actually goes down you won't see anything in the ASA. If you have a router you could use IPSLA and have it ping/jitter/tcp connect to a remote source on the internet and check that.

IPSLA

Another great tool is Ping Plotter Pro (http://www.pingplotterpro.com). It can tell you if you're dropping packets (and where) as well as latency and jitter.

Hope that helps.
