Solved: catalyst 4006 configuration portchannel

Hello,

we have 2 C4006 connected with fiber channel in a portchannel configuration, sometimes on of the two catalyst in the logg i have the following messages, can you tell me how to troubleshoot it, the problem is that we loose client server connections during one or two seconds :

It is difficult to guess the problem.

The link seems to go flap but how do we know if it is due to any physical problem or in s/w? If possibel check the link for physical connectivity ( if incase the cable is lose.)

Second thing is that.. do you have redundant link other than the portchannel? What is the stp state there. Can you look at it from loop perspective?

Can you check if there is a flap in the physical link gi1/2?

How can i check it ? because it's real that sometimes i Have in the log, PORT X/X flap between ...

Does it mean that i have a MAC overlap ?

Can you tell me what to do ?

Hi,

To elimitate some physical issues, i replace GBIC which was not cisco one, in the configuration we have two ports G1/1 and G1/2 on each Catalyst configured in the portchannel, that's all according to me. STP is configured as default for the switches in the floors and we have SPANNING-TREE PORTFAST for all the ports meaning the servers connected, is it good to do that ?

Yes, Spanning-Tree portfast accelerates the opening of the port and it's best practice to have it enabled when the switchports are servicing end-hosts such as servers and workstations.

Thank you for the all, the replacement of the GBIC by cisco one and the clear mac entries seems to resolve the problem for the moment.
