VTP domain

hi all,

just some basic vtp questions..always a bit scary when connecting switches with each other..;)..

When 2 switches are in different VTP domains will it effect each others configuration if better configuration revision number in one of those?

When one switch is in VTP transparent mode. will it trunk with a different switch in different domain but in maybe server or a transparent VTP mode?

If both switch in same domain, what happens if a transparent mode switch has the better configuration revision number..?

thanks....

Different VTP domains wont affect any configs as they wont interact with each other.

There is no restrictions for switches to be trunk even in different modes.

A transparent switch with a better rev no. shouldnt make any difference as it doesnt overwrite any configs.

Pls rate if this helps!!!

however if the client has a better revision, it will overwrite the config of an other switch even if it is in server mode

Remember, higher config-revision No. always overwrites switches with lower-config-revision on same domain.

To connect a new switch to vtp domain, make its config-revision No. to 0 by making it transparent & again making it client.
