Hi
can anyone help me configure my cisco 2509 as a access server for my home lab
i have 2 2950 switches and 4 routers and an octal cable
what configuration do i enter on the 2509
i know we use the ip hostname command
and config a loopback int with an ip address on the 2509
and use it like this
ip hostname SW1 2001 100.1.1.1
what else do i need to do onthis router or on the other devices in order to make it work without shifting console cables
please advice

Hi There
The "Transport Input/Output" command is used to define what protocols are allowed in (input) and out(output) from a particular interface.
If you run the command "transport input ?" or "transport output ?" you will see what protocols are available on that specific interface.
Depending on the IOS version, the "input" option may not be available.

HI
first of all let me thank you for the help
when i configure the 2509 to connect to the pair of switches and routers so that i dont hve to shift console cable i use the transport input all at the LINE 1 8 command
Why do i use INPUT in this command not OUTPUT coz basically the 2509 router is accessing the other devices so connection is going outward.I am a little confused
Please advice
