Device weights and choice of server

When you spec. a server such as 7845 and it can support "7500 something"- it is 7500 devices or 7500 device weights i.e you need to take into account the device weight per device. If so is there any public matrix non - cisco people have access to

- I think it is the device weight but just to make sure

many thanks

You can use the capcaity calculator:

http://www.cisco.com/cgi-bin/CT/PGWCT/ct.cgi

7500 is device units, not phones. Each device take up x number of device units.

Chris

Hi,

I am sorry but I disagree with what Chris has stated "7500 is device units, not phones".

As far as I know its 7500 Phones and not DLUs otherwise each and every phone model would have mentioned in the capacity calculator.

I might be wrong as well, but that's my understanding.

Sushil,

You are indeed correct, the 7845 can theoratically support 7500 phones, but that's basically assuming very low call volume and no other devices on that server, similarly to the advertised 30K phones per cluster.

Again, use the calculator tool for excact capacity calculations.
