Multilink routing issue

Unanswered Question
Jun 4th, 2008

I have 3 E1 links between 2 routers ,1st 2 links are configured as multilink and 3rd one standalone .I am running static routing now my question is this multilink performance is not good u can say degraded and i want to move my traffic on standalone link but whenever this link is choked traffic should also pass over multilink .

2nd scenario i use multilink 1st incase of degradation traffic should move over standlone link .

is this posible i am ready to go for dymanic routing also i thought of going for eigrp but i have a question during degradation reliability of link goes down in that case which link will be prefered one .

Thanks

I have this problem too.

HI Ajay, [Pls Rate if HELPS]

Can you please clarify more on poor performance of the Multilink.

Is the E1's bundled inside are Flappping ?

If so, refer below link to configure MLPPP Minimum Link Mandatory.

http://www.cisco.com/en/US/docs/ios/12_1/12_1e11/feature/guide/12e_mlp.html

If the Minimum specified links are not available the fall-back will happen to Secondary Standalone E1.

Managing the Traffic over Pri & Sec during the Choking can be done only with the help of QOS.

In case of MLPPP, if the reliability of one E1 goes down, still the link will show Up but only the traffic is impacted in this situation. You need to manually SHUT the E1 unless & until the Circuit becomes clean.

Hope I am Inforamtive.

Edison is Right!

using EIGRP will solve your problem.

It has an inherent equal cost load balancing capabilty & incase of degradation it will pass the traffic through the other two links.

I think there is some confusion Edison is right but here loadbalacing is not an issue but i am trying to say suppose the reliability of standalone link goes down 250 it will start genrating CRC in that case FD
