Per-VLAN Spanning Tree Protocol vs Rapid Per-VLAN Spanning Tree Protocol

I have two Catalyst 6503 SUP2/MSFC2 (6503-A and 6503-B) connected with a Layer2 trunk. Both switches run Per-VLAN Spanning Tree Protocol. I have to change the STP protocol only on 6503-A and move to Rapid Per-VLAN Spanning Tree Protocol.

How does 6503-A behave in terms of Spanning-Tree on the trunk to 6503-B?

Is the interoperability between switches preserved?

Best regards

Stefano

Yes the 2 will work fine together. Be aware that STP on any vlans that run across the trunk will default to standard 802.1d timers as opposed to the Rapid-pvst timers.
