OSPF TxRetransmit

I have a network with GSR and 7600s as ABR and 10720s as internal routers. All are connected using SRP rings.

I could see frequent OSPF txretransmit traps on the NMS whenever there is an LSA update. As the network is less than 20% utilized I could not think of any congestion as well. Is this normal in a network or can it be due to some other reason?

At the moment I can think of two reasons for this to happen:

1. Issue with transporting the packets over the ring

2. Issue with device itself, i.e. lots of packets destined for CPU are waiting and some of them are dropped.

Also, it is possible that something completely different is happening. However retransmissions are part of normal operation of protocols. If we didn't expect any

of them to happen we wouldn't have ACK mechanisms implemented.

Thanks Amrit..

Is this common in broadcast networks...I can see delayed ACK send from routers...
