MIB Query vs show interface counters

I'm confused about the counters on a Cisco6500.

The counters were cleared on the switch. I checked the counters 2 days later and there were no errors or discards.

When I check the counters using a MIB Browser, I see lots of discards, errors etc...

Any insight on this is appreciated.

Clear counters only clears CLI counters. SNMP counters cannot be cleared unless the SNMP agent is reloaded (i.e. the device is reloaded). This is per the SNMP specification. In order to confirm that you are not getting new errors, you need to take delta readings from your error counters. If the delta remains zero, then that agrees with the zeroes in your CLI output.

Thanks- you certainly cleared that up for me!
