ISL Port problems on 9513

Hi, I have two shiny new MDS9513 directors which i am trying to link with two ISL's. The problem i am having is that the ports on both switches stay in a state of 'initializing' although the port light is green. My HDS USPV disk ports come up fine as do the host ports. Trunking is set to on. Anyone any ideas?

G'day,

A couple of questions:

- What sort of line cards are you using?

- What VSAN's have you got configured?

- What zoning policy do you have and have you got any active zonesets on either switch?

- Have you setup switch priorities?

cheers

Hi,

I have sorted the problem. ISL's are on 24 port 4GB cards so i had to set the ports to dedicated rather than shared to get the ISL's up as TE's.

Hello,

having the same problem,

48-port FC card

I don't have any VSAN's configured( nothing is attached)

NO Zones

How do I configure switch priorities ?

G'day,

I'm not to sure how to do it via the GUI, but from the command line it is:

fcdomain priority [value (1-255)] vsan [vsan number]

Cheers

Andrew

VSANs require that both switches have the VSAN defined on

them in order for them to access each other across the ISL. In

other words, if Cisco switch A has 10 N_Ports in VSAN 1000, and

Cisco switch B has 10 N_Ports in VSAN 1 (default), these N_Ports

will not be able to access each other until the N_Ports in VSAN 1

are moved into VSAN 1000, or vice versa, or some flavor of IVR is

used.

Initializing: The physical layer link is operational and the

protocol initialization is in progress.

You should be more clear with your question is this an EISL or ISL ? what cable type are you using? are thier any patch panels involved? is switch binding enabled?

what have you done so far in your attempt to configure the ISL's ?
