Hi all,

I knew "answer-address" point to calling number (ANI) but not sure why "answer-address" keywword was chosen by cisco. Does anybody know why? The only reason I am asking is I wanted to "memorize".

Thanks,

Hi Smallrain,

I don't know the history, but if you just want a mnemonic, here's one.

"If I were a dial-peer and I had an answer-address statement, then I would only *answer* a call if I recognized that the *address* it came from is the whats configured."

A little cheesy, but hey...

Hope this helps.

Regards,

Michael.

Michael,

A good try and I am appreciated it.

Ok, based on your suggestion, I think, "answer-(that)-address" would be a good one to remember.

Thanks again,

Smallrain,

I like how you kept it simple yet elegant :-)

Regards,

Michael.
