Trunk, HWIC and ping issues

Unanswered Question

Hello,

I've a tricky issue on a very simple configuration, maybe you can turn my light on it :

I've got this :

(VLAN 1 is the default vlan)

Router 6xxx ===TRUNK===gi0/1 SWITCH L2 fa0/3---VLAN100---- F0/2/0 HWIC 2811

On the 6xxx :

int vlan 100

ip address 192.168.0.1 255.255.255.0

The trunk allow vlan 100.

On the switch L2 :

trunk side:

sh int g0/1 switchport

Name: Gi0/1

Switchport: Enabled

Administrative mode: trunk

Operational Mode: trunk

Administrative Trunking Encapsulation: dot1q

Operational Trunking Encapsulation: dot1q

Negotiation of Trunking: Disabled

Access Mode VLAN: 0 ((Inactive))

Trunking Native Mode VLAN: 1 (default)

Trunking VLANs Enabled: ALL

Trunking VLANs Active: 1,3-7,10,11,13,15,18,20,100,101,200,226

Pruning VLANs Enabled: 2-1001

Priority for untagged frames: 0

Override vlan tag priority: FALSE

Voice VLAN: none

Appliance trust: none

Self Loopback: No

fa0/3 side:

interface FastEthernet0/3

duplex full

speed 100

switchport access vlan 100

switchport trunk encapsulation dot1q

On the router :

interface Vlan100

ip address 192.168.0.2 255.255.255.0

interface FastEthernet0/2/0

switchport access vlan 100

duplex full

speed 100

-------------

The issue is that from the 6xxx, I can't ping 192.168.0.2 and from the 2811 i can't ping 192.168.0.1.

When i do a "debug arp" on the 2811 I realized that it has received the arp request from the 6xxx and that it answers it, seems that the answer never end to the 6xxx...

If you have an idea, it drives me nuts...

I have this problem too.

Looks good.

1) Let's see show interface gx/x switchport from the 6500 switch.

2) Let's see show vlan from the 6500 and L2 switch and show vlan-switch from the router.

3) In the L2 switch, force the access mode on F0/3 interface switchport mode access and remove the trunk reference.

HTH,

Looks good.

You don't have any ACL on any of the interfaces or VACL in either of the switches, right?

Can you connect the router directly to the 6500 switch for testing purposes? Does it work then?

If you were to create a SVI (Switch Virtual Interface) in the L2 switch for Vlan 100, can you ping the 6500 switch and the router?
