FSIP Controller -----WIC-1DSU-T1-V2 on 3845

Hi All,

We are trying to replace a 7000 router with 3845 router in one of our customer location. In relation to this, on the 7000 router, currently we have 2 serial interfaces on FSIP controller, where one serial interface connect to a CSU/DSU and another one connect to a serial interface on 2500 router. We are trying to understand, what card would be required in 3845 router to move these circuits.

We were thinking to use WIC-1DSU-T1-V2 on 3845 router to replace one serial circuit which is connected to an external CSU/DSU,in that way, we can eliminate the CSU/DSU and for the other serial interface, we are thinking to use an HWIC -WIC-1T. Is these hardware changes would work or even this is the right/optimised way to do it ?

Any help would be appreciated .

Thanks

Regards

Yup, the WIC-1DSU-T1-V2 has a built-in CSU/DSU (RJ-48 connection) and the HWIC-WIC-1T is a serial connection (DB60 no CSU/DSU).

Hope that helps.

Hi Collin,

Thank you very much

Hi Collin,

I have an question, assuming we want to retain the CSU/DSU externally and want to terminate on 3845. In this scenarion,do we have a equivalent WAN interface card in 3845 for FSIP controller in 7000. The idea to find this is,so that we are thinking that, we don't need to worry about the interface type on new 3845 and the cable required for those.

Kindly let us know.

The HWIC-WIC-1T should work there too. I am assuming the FSIP interface is DB60. If this is incorrect, let me know. I am also assuming the external CSU/DSU is V.35.

Here's a link that has show the interfaces.

Hi Harold,

Thanks for the link......

Is there a way to find the cable type from the router show commands ?

I think show interface does.

Hi Collin,

I couldn't find the cable type by viewing the show interface command . Any other method,by which we would be able to confirm the same ?

Thanks

It's not in plain English. Can you post the results of the show interface?

Hi Collin,

Sure ..Please find the show interface output for the interfaces on discussion.

OK, can you now try show controllers cxbus?

oh cool..in the controller o/p it mentions as V.35 DTE ---do I have to assume as DB60 cable connected to it ...

Thanks

I would think yes, but I was also get a pair of eyes on it before I bought anything :-)
