Does CCME use G.729 for non-local subnet calls by default ?

Hi,

I cant seem to find this info, but it looks like when I have dial-peers configured on ccme, and I get a call from a non-local subnet, the call seems to use G.729 by default.

Is this the default behaviour for calls that come in to CCME from a non-local subnet ?

Thanks

The codec CME uses is not 'subnet' specific.

With CME, all calls, by default, are g729 for VOIP dial-peers. (g711 for POTS dial-peers)

You can adjust the codecs to be used by using the 'codec' command under your dial-peers.

Another way to allocate codecs is to create a 'voice class codec' and define a list of codecs and their priority for use; then assign the voice class to the dial-peer.

Please see the following link for more information on default CME codec:

http://www.cisco.com/en/US/docs/voice_ip_comm/cucme/admin/configuration/guide/cmebasic.html#wp1101736

That is all correct expect that pots DP have no default codec precisely because they are not voip DP.

Thanks, I did see that link but it only mentions defaults for SIP endpoints.

SCCP->SCCP calls for 2 phones registered use G.711 (no dial-peers involved, as they are ephones)

The document does not seem to be clear as to what is the default for

H.323 (Eg CM originated) --> SCCP endpoint

H.323 (CM Originated) ---> TCL / VXML application

Certainly the best thing to do is specify the codec and remove any doubts.

Thanks
